Soulful faces can be similar to Story Art. Usually, a work in the category will focus in on the face - and that in itself can tell a powerful story. How the subject holds there head, their eyes, their mouth - all tell us how that character is feeling or what they are thinking. In 2018 I found myself drawn to faces more and more.

Faces are so fascinating - and finding ways to paint expressively can be even more so. Accuracy seems to be the first goal and yet, as I progress, I find I focus more on expression. What is the person feeling or thinking? How do we portray that? It's challenging, yet very fulfilling.
